Georgia Head Coach Lu Harris-Champer
On today’s win…
“I was proud of the team coming out fighting. I thought that we had a lot of heart and grit. The dugout was amazing, really just completely into the game. I thought we had some outstanding at-bats throughout the game—really proud of 7-8-9 and the way they kept getting on and being productive. Mahlena O’Neal has been working her tail off and really showed up today in clutch situations, got the job done. I’m just proud of the way the team fought back to get the series.”

On earning a series win in the SEC opener…

“It’s always good to win, no matter who you’re playing, but it’s always good to get it done at home. Again, I just thought Mary (Wilson Avant) was outstanding in relief, came in and was able to make the ball dance in so many directions. Just proud of the team because we had to come out and fight hard, and that’s what the SEC is about. … Ciara Bryan was just excellent for us all weekend. She’s terrific at the top of our lineup and is so smart on the bases for us.”

Senior Mahlena O’Neal
On today’s win…
“We came out swinging—we were the aggressors in this game. We put it upon ourselves to put the pressure on them from the very beginning, to make it feel like they were having to catch up to us.”

On takeaways from the series…

“We need to stay aggressive, stay alive in the dugout, working our process at the plate, and staying smooth on defense.”

On overcoming Friday’s loss to take the series…

“This win means a lot. It just shows the resiliency our team has and the fight we have that no matter what happens in a game, the next game, we’ll bounce back.”
