When the teams entered the stadium both sides either erupted with cheers or boos. The crowd was eager for it. It was a great college football environment.”
“Obviously there are certain benefits playing in state and staying at home,” Gary Downs said. “They always illuminate those things. They’ve put themselves in position to win the SEC again and the national championship, playoff picture. Their development in the secondary and getting guys to the NFL. All those things haven’t changed. Obviously being in-state, anything you can do anywhere else, whether it’s Alabama or Ohio State, you can do here. That’s their pitch.”
