UGA Recruiting: The Offer From the National Champions Was Huge for Defensive Lineman

“It’s crazy,” he told DawgNation. “It is like a humbling experience considering where I’m from. How small my city is. This doesn’t happen. This doesn’t happen to people around here. Especially for someone with so little experience like myself. I’m truly blessed that these coaches can see how hard I’ve worked at the game over this past year and how big of an impact I tried to be.”

“I was crying,” Carroll-Jackson said. “I’m not going to lie. I was super excited. I was full of joy and excitement. This doesn’t happen. It is not normal. No matter how you look at it this is not a normal thing for someone like me. For someone in my area. For a team as big and as powerful as Georgia to come calling and say they want me. That really stunned me. I had no words. I couldn’t talk after that.”

“It was a crazy thought because it’s like, a kid from my city, where I am at, get this kind of thing,” the 6-foot-5, 280-pound Carroll-Jackson told 247sports. “It’s the SEC, and this is not just any SEC team. This is the top SEC school, the No. 1 school in the nation.”

“I hopped on the phone with defensive line coach Tray Scott, and he was talking to me about how similar our backgrounds were and how much he enjoyed watching my tape,” Carroll-Jackson said. “He thought I would be a good fit for the Georgia Bulldogs. He said he would have offered me a few weeks ago, but he didn’t want to rush anything.
