Nashville, Tenn. – The Georgia men’s basketball team defeated Vanderbilt 80-77 Saturday evening, at the Nashville Memorial Gymnasium.

Senior Tyree Crump would hit the game winner within the closing seconds of the game. After Sahvir Wheeler sank two free throws to keep the Bulldogs within one, 78-77, Scotty Pippen Jr. would miss two free throws before Crump collected the rebound, weaved through defenders and delivered the final blow to the Commodores, giving the Bulldogs their second straight SEC win. This is the second game winner of the season, dating back to Dec. 20 with the win over SMU.

ATHENS, Ga. — Fourth-ranked Georgia improved to 7-0 after sweeping a doubleheader from Santa Clara Saturday in front of a Foley Field crowd of 3,109, winning 5-4 (12) and 6-1.

Before the game, the Bulldog baseball team honored their “Star” Nicholas Chaclan and his family as part of their support for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation’s Vs. Cancer program. The Bulldogs presented a $10,000 check to the organization and wore gold shoelaces in their cleats to help shine a light on the thousands of children who have experienced a cancer diagnosis. Gold is the signature color for childhood cancer.

Game One: Bradley Delivers 12^th-Inning Walk-Off Home Run
Tucker Bradley’s two-out walk-off home run to centerfield lifted Georgia past Santa Clara 5-4 in 12 innings. Georgia erased a early 3-0 deficit and then rallied after being down 4-3 in the 10^th.

Bradley entered the contest batting .588 and went 3-for-6 including his team-leading third home run. Freshman Jonathan Cannon notched the win, pitching the final frame with two strikeouts. Bronco reliever Travis Howard went 5.2 innings with no walks and seven strikeouts but gave up the home run to take the loss and fall to 2-1. Georgia improved to 6-0 while the Broncos fell to 5-2. Santa Clara led 3-0 at one point.

Sophomore right fielder Matt Jew gave the Broncos a 1-0 lead in the second inning when he connected for a solo home run. Santa Clara added a two-out run in the fourth and a solo home run by Eamonn Lance to start the fifth extended its lead to 3-0. The Bulldogs cut the deficit to 3-1 in the sixth on a sacrifice fly by Riley King.

ATHENS, Ga. – The 19^th-ranked Georgia softball program remained undefeated at home with a pair of wins Saturday at Jack Turner Stadium.

Georgia defeated 21^st-ranked James Madison in run-rule fashion for the second-straight day, 13-5. The Bulldogs followed it up with a 7-4 victory over Central Michigan later in the afternoon.

The Bulldogs scattered nine hits, led by two-hit performances from freshman Sara Mosley and sophomore Savana Sikes, driving in three and two runs, respectively. Georgia had five extra-base hits including home runs from Jordan Doggett, Mackenzie Puckett, and Mosley.

UGA Swimming and Diving: Georgia Men Take Third, Women Fourth at SEC Championships

AUBURN, Ala. – Highlighted by another sweep in the women’s breaststroke, University of Georgia swimming and diving earned a pair of top-five finishes Saturday at the 2020 SEC Swimming & Diving Championships at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center.

In the final tally, the Georgia men finished third with 953.5 points, while the Lady Bulldogs placed fourth with 986 points. In the men’s competition, Florida won its eighth-consecutive conference title, while Tennessee took its first women’s championship in school history.

For the men, it is their eighth top-three finish in the past nine seasons, and for the women, it continues a 40-season streak of finishing in the top five at SECs.

UGA Baseball: No. 4 Bulldogs Battle Santa Clara In Four-Game Set

ATHENS—– Fourth-ranked Georgia starts a four-game series with undefeated Santa Clara Friday at Foley Field. First pitch will be at 3 p.m. followed by a doubleheader Saturday and a single game Sunday.

Both teams are coming off midweek victories as the Bulldogs (4-0) went on the road and defeated Kennesaw State Wednesday 10-3. The Broncos are off to their best start since 2012 when they began the year 5-0. Before heading to Athens, Santa Clara upset No. 25 Stanford 3-2 Tuesday as six pitchers combined to limit the Cardinal to a pair of runs on three hits. The Broncos have outscored their opponents 43-12 and boast a team ERA of 2.00. The Bulldogs and Broncos have never met on the diamond.

Georgia is batting .308 with a 3.75 ERA and a .980 fielding percentage. Also of note, the Bulldogs are 14-for-14 in stolen base attempts with junior Tucker Bradley leading the team with five followed by senior Cam Shepherd with four. Bradley (.538-1-6) and Shepherd (.412-1-6) rank among the SEC’s leading hitters at this point while junior Garrett Blaylock (.294-3-6) is second in the in SEC in home runs. Sophomore Ben Anderson (357-0-1) is second in the SEC with 10 runs scored.

ATHENS, Ga. – The University of Georgia Lady Bulldog basketball team fell to the 16th-ranked Texas A&M Aggies, 64-47, Thursday evening in Stegeman Coliseum.

Redshirt-junior Jenna Staiti paced Georgia with 15 points. Senior Stephanie Paul joined Staiti in double-digit scoring, notching 12 points.

“We’ve just got to have better discipline,” Georgia head coach Joni Taylor said. “I thought some of our more experienced players weren’t focused and locked in when they needed to be down the stretch and made some mental mistakes that we normally don’t make. That can’t happen in games like this where we have a chance to win on our home floor.”

ATHENS, Ga. —The No. 11 University of Georgia gymnastics team will travel to face the No. 12 Kentucky Wildcats on Friday, February 21 in the team’s second Southeastern Conference road competition of the season. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. with action being streamed on the SEC Network +.

The GymDogs are coming off a dominate showing in the team’s Tri-Meet against Ball State and Eastern Michigan, while the Wildcats posted their season-best bars score in a loss to LSU on the road.

ATHENS, Ga. – The Georgia Bulldogs defeated the 13th-ranked Auburn Tigers in an SEC rematch, 65-55, in front of a sold-out Stegeman Coliseum on Wednesday night to snap a five-game losing streak.

This win marks the first over the Auburn Tigers since March of 2017. It also marks the second win over an AP Top 15 team this season, the last coming at No. 9 Memphis on Jan. 4. The last time the Bulldogs were able to defeat multiple top 15 teams in a season was during the 2003-04 season when they tallied three upsets.

Freshman sensation Anthony Edwards paced Georgia in scoring for the 16th time this season with 18. This marks the 22nd double-digit performance of his career. Junior Rayshaun Hammonds (13) and freshmen Sahvir Wheeler (13) and Toumani Camara (10) joined Edwards in double figures.

KENNESAW, GA.—–Garrett Blaylock and Cam Shepherd hit home runs to lead fourth-ranked Georgia to a 10-3 road win over Kennesaw State Wednesday at Stillwell Stadium.

Georgia (4-0) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first. Ben Anderson led off with a walk, took second on a passed ball and came around to score on a base hit by Tucker Bradley. In the second, Anderson drew his team-leading fifth walk, advanced to second on a wild pitch and scored on a double by Shepherd for a 2-0 advantage. The Owls threatened in the fourth after a pair of miscues to start the home half of the frame. However, Georgia turned a double play to keep them off the scoreboard.
