ATHENS, Ga. โ Week five of NFL action is complete, and several former Bulldogs had exceptional performances for their respective teams.
Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford has come out of the gates hot as he threw for 389 yards and three touchdowns on Thursday night, his second straight week with 375 or more passing yards and three touchdowns. Stafford now leads the NFL in passing yards with 1,503 and ranks second in the league in passing touchdowns with 11. Currently, Stafford sits just 12 touchdown passes away from 400 total for his career, which would make him just the tenth player in NFL history to accomplish the feat.
Meanwhile, Tykee Smith made a major impact for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their close victory over the Seattle Seahawks. Smith racked up six tackles, two passes defended, and added a fumble recovery in the win, as he now leads the Buccaneers in total tackles with 39 on the season. Currently, Smith ranks second in the NFL in tackles by defensive backs (39) and is tied for fifth in the league in passes defended with six on the year.
